Santa Claus
Josephine Allen
Who is this man called Santa Claus?
That jolly old fellow that makes everybody stop and pause,
Who has something for you and me;
When we see him we shout with glee.
Now Santa is sitting in his little red and green house on Fayetteville Street,
Listening to the patter of big and little feet.
Now Old Santa had better make the best of it all,
For all I can say that at least by next fall,
His little house in Raleigh will be taken over by the City Mall.
I didn't know your mother was such a gifted poet
